Is Obama really better than McCain?
I didn’t watch the first Presidential debate, but as I was reading the transcript, I found something Obama said rather shocking:
No U.S. soldier ever dies in vain because they’re carrying out the missions of their commander in chief.
This is something I’d expect McCain to say, but Obama claims to be better than that; this just supports my assertion that both candidates are horrible.
For both of these men, giving your life for your ruler is glorious. In all circumstances, Obama says, a soldier’s death is justified (and perhaps heroic) if he is following the orders of his leader.
Giving your life in defense of your family or friends, these reasons make sense.
Giving your life to a politician, though?
Apparently our democracy is slowly giving way to a monarchy, where our rulers rule with the Divine Right of Kings, where his right to rule is the will of God. He is accountable only to Him, and need answer only before Him, not his people, for his actions.
Yikes.
